PRESS: Hyundai St Pete plant starts making car bodies for exports
MOSCOW, Dec 29 (PRIME) -- Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus, the plant of South Korea’s Hyundai in St. Petersburg, has launched production of car bodies for exports to Kazakhstan, Vedomosti business daily reported on Thursday quoting two sources familiar with the matter.
The plant had been in downtime since March, when Hyundai decided to suspend it because of troubles with supplies of car components caused by international sanctions.
The sources said that the plant has started stamping, welding, and coating bodies for Hyundai Solaris cars with paint, and sending them to Almaty in Kazakhstan for further assembly, the business daily reported.
A source told Vedomosti that the car body line was restarted recently, while another source said that the plant planned to produce bodies for the Hyundai Creta crossover.
